Live The Life You’ve Been Created to Have
Develop Christ-Centered Relationships
If you’re checking out Chico Bible Church for the first time, you can expect the same thing that many now look forward to every week, a place to grow in the life that you’ve been created to have.
At the Chico Bible Church, we seek to make our times of fellowship spiritually profitable in developing Christ-centered relationships. Before and after our regular services, we meet to encourage one another to love and fellowship. We also meet at homes throughout the year for special events, barbeques, or holidays.
Church & Pastor
"And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ." (Eph. 4:11-12)
The Chico Bible Church began as a small group of believers meeting Sunday mornings in the Belben’s living room in 1998. As the fellowship grew, so did the need for a larger facility. In 2000, the church moved to the Paradise Grange Hall. In 2010, the church moved to the present location at 175 Chico Canyon Road and became known as the Chico Bible Church.
From the beginning, the focus has been on equipping the saints for ministry, to edify the Church and evangelize for Christ. This includes faithful teaching of the Scriptures and personal discipleship. There is an emphasis on developing and cultivating Christ-centered relationships.
Pastor Kirk was called to the ministry and ordained in 1996. He is married; he and his wife Christine have three adult children. Pastor Kirk is a great example of a pastor that is not only committed to teaching the word verse by verse but is a true shepherd.
God's Living Word
"All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work."
(2 Titus 3:16-17)
We believe the Bible is God’s living Word. Therefore, we “stick to the Scriptures.” For that reason, we don’t teach man’s wisdom, personal experience, or the latest book. Instead, we study the Bible verse-by-verse to understand and apply God’s Word. We teach the inerrancy and sufficiency of the Scriptures and the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Because faith equals obedience, God’s Word is to be implemented in practical everyday living. Times of instruction—both formally and informally—are centered on God’s Word.
Making a Joyful Noise
"Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the LORD!" (Psalm 150:6)
Worship at the Chico Bible Church is simple and varied. Sunday morning worship is led by acoustic guitar with vocal accompaniment. Worship consists of traditional hymns, praise choruses, contemporary worship, and original compositions. The purpose of our time of corporate worship is to praise and glorify God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
"And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more, as you see the day draw near." (Hebrews 10:24-25)
6:00 pm food & fellowship
6:30 pm study
Wednesday nights allow for in-depth discussion and interaction.
Studies mainly focus on Old Testament books of the Bible, at times will also include Inductive Bible study, and Biblical counseling and discipleship.
Believers are encouraged to study and apply God’s Word throughout the remainder of the week.
Sunday morning services begin with worship in song and a time of prayer requests, followed by a verse-by-verse exposition of the Scriptures. Typically, we cover a New Testament book a few verses at a time, allowing us to “set the plow deep” and apply the Bible to daily living.
Teaching includes Greek word studies, pertinent cross-references, practical application.*Communion is every first Sunday of the month
Our goal is to learn to obey God’s Word in every area of life in order to glorify the Lord.
